Established in 2002, the Optica Foundation carries out charitable activities in support of the society’s student and early career communities. We cultivate the next generation of leaders and innovators as they navigate advanced degree programs and become active members of research, engineering and business worldwide. The foundation also works to secure the endowments for Optica’s awards and honors programs. The foundation is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
HZB works on highly efficient solar cells of the next generations, for example on thin-film technologies and new classes of materials such as perovskites. In doing so, they seek contact with industry at an early
stage. They are developing novel catalysts and materials that convert sunlight into chemical energy and thus produce renewable fuels, for example hydrogen. Battery materials with better properties are also
being explored at HZB. Another important field of research is quantum materials for tomorrow's energy-efficient information technologies.
WISTA Management GmbH, a state-run company in Berlin, is an experienced business promoter, site developer, and service provider.
As an initiator and economic catalyst, WISTA strengthens the economic foundation of the German capital on the interface of research and industry. WISTA builds, operates, and lets out technology centres in addition to selling leasehold properties.
